Getting married is easy. Planning a wedding, not so much!
While it's an incredibly exciting experience, wedding planning can be stressful and very overwhelming. Here are a few helpful tips to make the planning process a little less tiring and a little more fun.
1. Set up a wedding email.
If you go to a bridal show, every vendor there will get your contact info. Even though you may want the information, getting hundreds of emails in your inbox can be aggravating.
Setting up a wedding email like "yourname&hisname@gmail.com" will allow you to get all the wedding info you want while leaving your personal inbox in peace.
2. Organization is key.
Keep all of your notes, ideas, and vendor information in one place. Some brides prefer to use a binder or notebook, but going digital can be much more convenient. Make a list on Google Docs and have it on your tablet or smart phone wherever you go. Websites like TheKnot or WeddingWire are also very helpful for finding quality vendors and organizing all your important wedding info.
3. Don't forget to kiss.
*Spoiler Alert* Wedding planning stress leads to wedding planning fights—this is natural. There's nothing wrong with a little tension as long as you remember to show your love. Kiss as often as possible and cherish every single moment.
4. Tell your vendors what YOU want.
Most vendors will try to fit your wedding into a pre-made package. You're not template #3! Every aspect of your wedding should be as amazing and unique as you are, both as individuals and as a couple. Make sure your vendors know this so you can have your wedding your way.
5. Schedule some "just for me" time.
Wedding planning is hard work; take a personal day. Set aside time to unwind and do what makes you happy. Take a bath, listen to music, do some yoga, or anything else that helps you recharge so you can handle the next day of wedding planning madness.
6. Don't procrastinate.
Some couples wait until a few months before the wedding to book venues and vendors to try to get cheaper prices. This is risky since most of the good companies fill up their calendars 6 months to a year in advance. Be sure to book your favorites early so you don't have to settle for less than you deserve.
7. Keep time on your side.
Make sure you set aside extra time on your wedding day, especially for the ceremony and the photographer. They almost always take longer than expected and you don't want to be rushed. If you plan for it, everyhing will be right on time. You may even end up with a few extra seconds to take a breath :)
